The widespread use of disposable food service items, many of which are plastic, presents major environmental and economic issues. This includes plastic pollution that harms wildlife and damages tourist sites, leading to costly cleanup efforts and unsustainable use of natural resources. In 2021, in partnership with PSI and with funding from the U.S. EPA and other sources, earthday365 initiated a project to introduce a reusable take-out packaging system in restaurants across St. Louis, Missouri.
